My Story…

Hi lovely souls, I’m Raffa - thanks for dropping by..

Since as long as I can remember I have always been creative, drawing and painting has been a life line, a comfort, a nourishment to my heart. Fast forward into my adult life, I was picking up the pieces of my life expressing myself through the heartache of trying to cope with a partner drowning in addiction. I continued over the years and changed paths in my life from teaching to studying art therapy. This inspired me to share the unique art process with others by way of healing, and trying to make some sense of internal struggles and just coping with life.

For the past decade I have worked with tens of thousands of people in the area of addiction providing Creative Art Process Groups various rehabs and then moving into management where I now run a private drug and alcohol service in the heart of Watford.

From my own art works - I create vibrant unique pieces of original using acrylic, watercolour, textured medium, with gold leaf gilding. I work holistically based on some deeper themes of my own life experiences.

I have trained at the Institute of Art Therapists in Education (IATE in Islington), achieving a Post Graduate in Counselling using the Arts, as well commencing a Masters in Integrative Art Psychotherapy. Other training has included Art Therapy in areas of conflict, as well as further CPD within the Addiction field.

Some of the themes I have been exploring are:

Grief, Loss, Belonging
Self Esteem & Self worth
Boundaries
Values and identity
Acceptance, Compassion
Boundaries

I have also delivered art based groups in community settings, teaching drawing and painting techniques to beginners, shining their hidden talents with joyful artwork!
